The Marcus Hook Plank House was a great place to investigate. The history and rumors about the house are pretty interesting. Apparently the house belonged to the mistress of Blackbeard the pirate! History does show that Blackbeard was around the local area during his life; however there is no solid evidence proving his was connected to this particular house. Reports of activity in the house include seeing a young girl in the upstairs room either standing in the far corner or by the front window. There are also reports of objects being moved around all over the house. The owner showed us a picture that was taken while he was renovating the house where he claims you can see a face in the fireplace. We tried to recreate the face in the fireplace in our own photo right away. We could not duplicate the face exactly, however you could see certain features of the face in some of our photos. We ruled out the face in the fireplace right away as an example of matrixing. We spent a great deal of time in the upstairs room doing EVP's, temperature readings, and photos. We also had our digital Hi-8 with nightvision on a tripod in the room all night. We had the Hi-8 in the corner opposite from the one where people have reported seeing a little girl. The Hi-8 had a perfect view of the whole room. We did lots of EVP work in the basement, as well as temperature readings and took lots of photos. We spent about 3 hours investigating the small house, however we were unable to capture any evidence. Personally I found one thing strange about this investigation. The house was old, and the kitchen floor was torn up and the ground & dirt below the house was exposed however in all of the photos we took we didnt even catch a dust orb. We are not a fan of orbs, and we dont consider them as actual evidence because they are normally just dust, but that is what we found odd. In such an old house that had lots of work being done to it there should have been some dust orbs, but we didnt get any. We had a great time investigating this house, and hopefully we were able to help the owner ease his mind about the house. The plank house is in danger of being torn down. The township of Marcus Hook wants to tear down the house for room to build a row home. The owner of the house has been in the local papers and on the local news, and has even been on CNN telling people about the history of the house and asking for help in saving it. You can help save the Plank House! Please take the time to visit the official Plank House website for more information. Click HERE to view the Plank House website. During the investigation none of our members had any kind of personal experiences in the house. After carefully reviewing all of the data from our investigation we could not find any evidence of any kind. We do not believe this location to be haunted. If there is some type of activity in the house we were unable to capture or experience any of it. If we ever return to the plank house again it could be a totally different story the next time, but for now we stick by our decision. Status: Not Haunted |
